Subject:           TAAA 2017 Convention CEU’s State Reciprocity
TAAA’s 2017 Annual Convention and Exhibition will take place in Corpus Christi, January 11-13, 2017 and a number of continuing education units will be offered once again.  TAAA has put together the following information after many inquiries on neighboring states’ reciprocity agreements.
TAAA has contacted New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana to determine if any of our classroom sessions will satisfy CEU credit for attendees from these states and we received a positive response from both New Mexico and Oklahoma.  Before they will provide us with final approval, they have asked us for the 2017 convention agenda to review. If approved, the classroom sign-in sheets will be updated to include a column for the attendee to provide their state(s) license number(s). TAAA will than forward the attendee’s CEU certificate to the appropriate state’s Department of Agriculture. Each member will also receive their CEU certificate via email/mail from TAAA as receipt for attending the 2017 Annual Convention CEU courses which include that from the Texas Department of Agriculture. We are hoping that this will go a long way toward ensuring sufficient CEU course licensing for all of our Texas pilots.
Neighboring States’ Reciprocity Clauses:
New Mexico:
New Mexico Department of Agriculture may accept CEUs from state or federal agencies on submittal of acceptable documentation and does not require a NM Laws and Regulation course. A minimum of five (5) CEUs shall be required for recertification of private applicators.
Oklahoma:
Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry may accept CEUs from state or federal agencies on submittal of acceptable documentation and does not require an OK Laws and Regulation course. A minimum of twenty hours OR a re-test of the Oklahoma written category exam every five years shall be required for recertification of private applicators. *Also, it must be noted that our agreement in the state of Texas is limited to testing done by the Texas Department of Agriculture, not by the Texas Structural Pest Control Board, as our reciprocal agreement is specific to TDA and not the other agency.
